We were so sorry to learn of Wayne’s passing. Earl and I have many fond memories of having you as neighbours on Lyon Ave. and visiting with you after you moved to Calgary. I was always uncomfortable with motorcycles, but enjoyed my rides with Wayne. We wish you were still our neighbours!

Those who kept in touch with Wayne know that after he left The Co-operators and went back to Calgary his family became his life.

In a sense that was true before then too – except his family at the time also included those who worked with him, devoted as he was to the company and the cooperative cause. When he was transferred by the company to Calgary to set up and manage its western operations, a member of his new management team said to me: “Last evening Wayne invited me and my wife over to his place. I thought it was a social call, but we were soon involved in a discussion of work. I could have taken my parents and all my uncles and aunts with me, and he still would have found a way of engaging us all in shop talk.”

What Wayne gave The Co-operators will forever show in its character and personality – as it will in those whose careers and lives he helped shape. As a part of his extended family, I hope it would be of some comfort to Sylvia, Shane, Kelly, Darcy and Erin and their own families to know that this incalculable loss is not theirs alone but shared by many.

Please accept our deepest condolences in the passing of your father/grandfather/husband. Kelley has shared so many wonderful stories about her father over the years. He will undoubtedly be missed greatly by many. Sincerely, the Reinhart family.

My very deepest condolences to Wayne’s family. I am deeply saddened at the news that I have lost one of the most influential human beings I have had the privilege to know. I reported to Wayne at The Co-operators for a number of years which on reflection were perhaps some of the most important years of my career due to the positive influence Wayne had on my development. When he left The Co-operators, his impact continued as I came to look forward to receiving his regular emails with words of wisdom, support and challenge…yes, even challenge these many years later. What has now become the last email I received from Wayne before Xmas challenged me to think more creatively and, as usual, he was right. He was without hesitation the most intelligent, strategic and impactful superior I have had the honour to know. I will truly miss this very special and wonderful man. Thank you Wayne.

I am so very sorry to learn of your loss. Perhaps it will serve as some comfort to know that Wayne will be missed by many. He was integral in the development of business and of individuals who he believed could join him in ‘making a positive difference’. Not only did he lead insurance history, his strong devotion to those whose lives and careers he shaped will never forget this amazing mentor and friend. I am grateful to have been under his wing and plan to stay there. Wayne was one of the most special people who have touched my life and my childrens. He was a cherished friend and colleague for many years, even through distance. Fortunately, he inspired courage and integrity – such wonderful gifts of challenge and inspiration he readily gave to those who could rise to it:).
