Condolences
Words can never fully express the grief that a family goes through at the passing of a husband, father & grandfather. I was very surprised at reading the obit on Michael, my cousin, whom I have not had a lot of contact with over the years. Our paths in life just never seemed to have crossed, but, I do have many memories of our early years in Calgary when my mother & father shared a space in the Petley home in Parkhill. I was just getting to know Mike, who was three years older, when we moved to Medicine Hat. It seemed from then on we only met on occassion, but, they were good times!
We spend the first half of our lives looking for success. The second half, we look for significance. At the end of the race, you want to be able to look in the mirror and say, “This was a life well lived”. After reading the role he played in his grandchildren’s lives, it is a tribute to a life well lived.
My deepest condolences to Maria and the Petley clan.
Al Chambers
Maria, Mary Pat, Danny, Sam and Megan,
It is sad to see someone so full of life pass away. I was expecting to spend more time with Mike over the next few years, when and if I retire. I will defintely feel Mike’s absence in the coming years. If I can help you at all in anyway, please don’t hesitate to ask. My deep felt condolances.
Yours, Doug
