Condolences
To all of Grant’s family:
I had the pleasure of being Grant’s EVDS colleague until my retirement in 1997. May I offer my condolences on his passing.
I regret very much having missed the memorial service (I chair an organization which was meeting that evening).
I will always remember the twinkle in Grant’s eye as he lent perspective to the EVDS crisis du jour.

Dear Trudy;
I am deeply saddened by the news of Grant’s passing. I am so sorry. This must be so very difficult for you and your family. It is hard to imagine that Grant is no longer with us. I am saddened that I had not seen much of him in the last couple of years.
During the time that Grant acted as supervisor for my Masters Degree Project, I was able to gain an appreciation for his wonderful sense of humour, his enormous intellectual capacity and his common sense approach to addressing the many projects and activities that he took on. Following the ‘eventual’ completion on my degree, I was fortunate enough to work with Grant on several consulting projects. To my delight, he never stopped teaching or mentoring and I may have learned more from working with him than I did as a student. In this regard I am not alone as a number of other students and colleagues were fortunate enough to benefit from his teaching and mentoring abilities.
I regret that I am unable to join with you at the services tonight. My heart goes out to you, your children and grandchildren. May god bless you at this time and always.

The Ross Family:
I graduated from EVDS in 1983 under the watchful eye of Dr. Ross(or Grant as he insisted on being called). Were it not for his tutelage, his sage advice and encouragement, I would not have graduated nor gone on to have a successful consulting practice in Calgary for the past twenty-seven years. For that I am most grateful.
Although I had not stayed in touch with Grant, I bumped into him last year and we had a lovely visit. After all these years, he still remembered me. What an amazing man. He was more than an educator; he had a warmth and caring nature that was magnetic. I will never forget him.
I feel as though I somehow lost a friend; I know that humanity has lost one of its best.
Please know that I care and understand the depth of your sorrow.
My heartfelt deepest condolences.
