Obituary of McCOY – Gerald Edmond
July 25, 1928 – January 16, 2010
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald McCoy, loving husband, dad and grandfather. Gerald passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the age of 81 years.
Gerald is mourned by his wife Doris (nee Grant); his children, Cynthia (Mike) Hanley, Kevin (Kareen) McCoy, Brian (Andrea) McCoy, Lynne (Rick) Clost, Sharon (John) Moen, Wayne (Jeannette) McCoy, and Tom McCoy; fourteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Gerald is also survived by his sisters, Beatrice Corkery, Helen Corkery and Sister Marie McCoy, Sisters of the Charity of Ottawa; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends in Ottawa. He was predeceased by his parents, John Lewis and Faldora McCoy, and his brothers, Hugh, Donald, Jack, Darcy and his twin brother George.
Gerald was born in Ottawa and, after a lengthy career with Canada Post, he and Doris moved to Calgary to be with their children. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and was treasured by his family. We will miss him immensely and he’ll be forever in our hearts.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E. Calgary) on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
