Here’s a copy of the eulogy for Steve.
I am here before you today to eulogize a dedicated husband, beloved son, brother, uncle, and a great friend.
Though our hearts are filled with much sadness on this day, our message is not one of despair, but one of hope, love, and celebration. Anyone who had the good fortune of spending time with Steve can attest to the wit and good humor, which he embodied. He was the type of person who lived his life to the fullest, and took advantage of each and every minute. These were central traits that dominated Steve’s personality. While we mourn the loss of such a great person, we should not lose sight of these ideals which Steve found so important. He would want us to continue living our lives in the same manner he did. He would want us to laugh again. Rather than mourn his death, he would want us to celebrate his life.
Steve and Charlene were life partners for more than 23 years and were married in their home on Christmas Eve, 2009. Besides his loving wife, Steve is survived by his mother Dorothy; a brother Dave; two sisters, Carol and Sue and their families. He was predeceased by his father Guy. Steve was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Being a military family, Steve grew up on army bases and after several moves, the family ended up in Calgary in 1969. Steve graduated from Forest Lawn High School and went on to become a machinist. He worked within the industry in various locations in Calgary for the past 15 years and for the past 8 years he worked at Natayo Manufacturing.
Steve was an excellent handyman and never hesitated to lend a helping hand wherever he could. Steve played many sports including hockey in his younger years. In his father’s later years, Steve loved to spend time fishing with him. Steve loved photography, camping and various activities of the great outdoors. He loved mountain biking as well as hiking and of course, snow shoeing. Some of his favorite places that frequented include Powderface, Mount Baldy, Sandy McNab, and Rossland Lake and various places within the city of Calgary. Charlene and Steve spent many hours touring via motorcycle enjoying the beauty our country has to offer. Steve had a great sense of humour which he enjoyed sharing with those close to him. Steve had a big heart and would help anyone in need and he had great passion for animals. Steve had a kind and selfless soul. He was a patient man who thought things through, never rushing into any situations and offered sound advice to his friends. He had an ability to say more with less, whether with words or actions. Steve loved and embraced life. His easy going nature was an exceptionally positive quality that everyone could appreciate. Although considered a quiet man, he loved life and gave so much, never asking for anything in return.

From Jim Baayens, Steve’s best friend:
Steve, you were so important to me. You were the perfect best friend, I could not have asked for a better friend, my best man, and yes, I forgive you for making me the “ring bearer” at your wedding. I guess payback time for those times I got you into trouble…Steve, it’s always been you who I can count on through good and bad times. I will never forget all the great times we had together as young kids but especially as adults. We experienced so much together, good and bad, but both came out the other side better people and closer friends. You were joyful and charming, quiet, funny, loyal, daring and unique. I will miss everything about you. I love you Steve!
From Steve’s Mom, Dorothy:
Steve always had a smile on his face. No matter what day or time you see Steve, he’s always smiling. He was never a “whiner”, always had a “sunny” disposition and was never a problem kid. He always put other people first. Dorothy will cherish the joy that Steve have given his family and will greatly miss his smile…
From Carmen, Charlene’s cousin:
On behalf of Charlene’s extended family that, they all thought very highly of Steve. He supported and loved Charlene unconditionally. Through thick and thin he was there for her. He was a loyal and loving partner and we could not have been more pleased to have him as part of our family.

Just some rambling thoughts. Steve was a good conversationalist. Had a good sense of humor. Was very well read. Loved “Lord of the Rings” and read it several times. Loved raspberries, peas out of the garden and Smoothies. He cared about other people.
From Dave, Steve’s brother:
I have many fond memories of my little brother Steve, the most kind- hearted person you could ever meet. He affected many people with his kind heart and I am very proud to call him my brother. I love him so much and will miss him a lot..See you in Powderface brother!

We have lost a brave soul. A beautiful human being, inside and out. Your kind, support words have honestly touched me and will stay with me. Steve, you are wonderful person, and will never be forgotten, thank you for the time well-spent.
From Carol, Steve’s sister:
I did not realize until I arrived Christmas morning what a gift and blessing it was to take the opportunity to be with Steve, my baby brother, on this incredible journey. To see the dedication he and Charlene’s life together. To see what wonderful friends they both have, and to feel their sincerity. It has also been a very sad and helpless time. We laughed and we cried, and told funny stories. As time progressed, he got weaker. The body waned but not his sense of humour. I will remember my brother with love, and admiration and of course, with sadness but with realization that his life continues. See you in the fishing hole, brother!
Now, to reflect on Steve’s life. A memorable trip for Steve and Dave. They planned a trip to attend their niece Tannis’ graduation and decided to take Steve’s bike. Well, they ended up in Micadam instead of heading south to Kelowna, BC. You know, men! Did not want to ask directions or consult a map. They eventually made it to their niece’s graduation after a few hours being lost. Also in the spring of 2004, Steve and Charlene flew up to Whitehorse, Northwest Territories where they had fun canoeing the Yellowhead River. In the summer of 2005 they went to Parksville, Vancouver Island to visit Charlene’s Erna and Alf went fishing off of the coast of Port Albernie . Last summer Steve and Charlene went to California where Steve participated as a timer for the Tevis Cup – man against horse race. One hundred miles in one day and this race is known as the world’s most gruelling endurance race. He also enjoyed the hand-blown glass art work that was on display in Northern California. Also enjoyed driving the winding road along Oregon Coast in his new Subaru with his new adopted slogan, wind in my hair, dirt on my teeth and nothing to worry about..
He was known to many of you as Steve Guy Levesque. To his family he was known as son, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and nephew. To his friends he was known as Steve, Stevo, Stevie and sometimes Stevie Wonder!
Steve, you are one of the greatest guys we have ever known, your heart, friendship and sense of humour are irreplaceable. You will never be forgotten and will forever be part of our lives. We love you and miss you. Not only have you been there for your friends and family. Your strength, courage and faith are amazing.
You have been a true inspiration to us all, Steve’s friends and family, and I’m sure many others. Once again from the bottom of our hearts we would like to say thank you Steve for the gift of sharing your life with us ….
