Obituary of SVENDSEN – John Agner Erik

April 22, 1937 – January 12, 2010 John Svendsen, beloved husband of Bente Svendsen of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the age of 72 years. John was born on April 22, 1937 in Copenhagen, Denmark. John married the love of his life Bente in February of 1958. Together they immigrated to Canada from Denmark in 1966 and made their home first in Edmonton and later in Calgary. John loved spending time with his wife and family as well as painting and gardening. Besides his loving wife Bente, John is survived by a son Steven Svendsen of Edmonton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pia Svendsen-Birhanu (Mengistu Birhanu) and Margit (Glenn) Montgomery, all of Calgary; and four grandchildren, Lisa Montgomery, Shayna Svendsen, Matthew and Eva Birhanu. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jytte and Lena of Denmark. A Celebration of John’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
