Obituary of THOMAS – Marion Eva

June 22, 1926 – January 5, 2010 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Marion Eva Thomas beloved wife of the late William (Bill) G. N. Thomas on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at the age of 83 years in the Rockyview Hospital, Calgary, Alberta. Marion was born on the family farm near Harris, Saskatchewan on June 22, 1926 youngest child of Robert & Anna Hamilton. She attended secretarial school in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Marion met Bill in Saskatoon and they were united in marriage on May 31, 1947 at the 3rd Avenue United Church. During the early years of their marriage, Bill & Marion lived in Archiedale, Swanson, Anerley, McKim, Dubuc and Bangor. During this time they made many lifelong friends. In 1967 they settled in the Crescent Lake district to farm full time. Marion dedicated her life to her family, raising her three boys. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook and worked side by side with Bill. It was very common to see a group of friends and family around her kitchen table on a Sunday evening enjoying one of her home cooked meals. She enjoyed quilting and was always willing to help out at weddings in the community. Marion had a passion for the game of curling and never missed a game on television if at all possible. In 1988 Bill & Marion retired to Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Retirement was not in her vocabulary at that time and she decided to help out by babysitting in her new community. In 2000, she moved to Calgary where she made new friends and was active exploring the city and travelling. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Thomas; parents Robert & Anna Hamilton and sister Elsie. She leaves to celebrate her life her three sons Vaughan of Yorkton, Saskatchewan; Dale (Bev) of Calgary, Alberta and Darrell (Judy) of Guelph, Ontario as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Yorkton, SK. In living memory of Marion Thomas, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
