Obituary of WINKLER – Zachary Georg

June 19, 1990 – January 1, 2010 After a courageous battle with cancer Zachary, beloved son of Robert and Zoe Winkler, passed away at home where he most wanted to be. Zachary appreciated and sought to enjoy every day he had, and took pleasure in even the simplest things. He especially enjoyed spending time socializing with friends and family. He touched so many people throughout his life, from teachers that wondered how anyone could be angry with those big puppy dog eyes and anyone who saw him play soccer, at one game scoring from the opening kickoff, the assistant principal and some of the teaching staff at Father Lacombe High School who went way, way beyond their job descriptions to allow him to walk the stage at his graduation, or to the doctors and nurses that were so impressed with his bravery and continuously optimistic attitude. Zachary was predeceased by his Grandpa Smith and his cousin Brendan. He will be forever in the hearts of his Mom and Dad; his brothers, Joshua and Matthew; and his sister Jessica; as well as Grandpa and Grandma Winkler, Grandma Smith and Uncle Jan, and all of his aunts, uncles and cousins. From the age of about ten, one of Zack’s favourite songs was Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”, so please in his memory, enjoy this wonderful world and value every minute. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive N.E.) on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
