Obituary of Wallace Wah Sun MAH

February 6, 1933 – December 11, 2009 Wallace Wah Sun Mah, beloved husband of Irene Mah of Calgary passed away on Friday, December 11, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Wallace was born on February 6, 1933 in Taishan, China and immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1952. Wallace and Irene were married on October 7, 1963 in Hong Kong and returned to Calgary in 1964 to live. Wallace was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who always worked hard for his family. The majority of his working life was spent in the restaurant business where he shared his joy of cooking. Wallace enjoyed life and keeping active with swimming, ballroom dancing, golf, camping and taking his family on vacation. After retiring in 1992, he enjoyed travelling with Irene and exploring the world. Wallace contributed his time to the Chinese community as a Director with the Mah Society for many years; he was always kind and friendly to others. Prior to his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, he was healthy and vibrant. Since June 2008, Wallace has required the support of the Bethany Care Centre where he lived and was visited daily by Irene. Wallace peacefully passed away with his wife at his side. He had a wonderful life and he was tremendously loved. Besides his loving wife, Wallace is also survived by his sons, Tony and Jeffrey (Michelle); and grandchildren, Jillian, Claire, and Evan. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, December 18, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
