Obituary of MOODIE – William

November 15, 1914 – December 7, 2009 We are sad to announce the death of Bill Moodie in Calgary on Monday, December 7, 2009 of natural causes. Bill moved to Calgary in 2007, following the death of his beloved wife Flo, after sixty-five years of marriage. He was planning to spend the winter in Florida, hosting his sons and their families when time caught up with him. Bill worked for the Royal Bank of Canada, both before and after his wartime service with the RCAF, until retirement in 1974. His banking career included stops in North Bay, Vancouver and Winnipeg before serving as a senior executive in Montreal for over twenty years. After his career at RBC, he moved on to become President of Canadian Pacific Investments, a position he held for four years. Retirement beckoned and he and Flo moved from Montreal to a summer home in Ontario and a winter home in Florida, where he played golf and visited with friends and family. While Bill enjoyed his career, his leisure time and friends, nothing brought him more pleasure than his family. He is survived by his sons, Walt (Anne), Charlie, Tim (Trish), and Dunc (Faith). Together they have given Bill and Flo six grandchildren, William, Jason, Jonathan, Melahanie, Kelly, and Will; and four great grandchildren, Nora, Savannah, Eve, and Wyatt. We remember happy hour, dinners together, golf matches, and lively conversations. While we will miss his wise counsel and incredible wit, the memories are strong and will stay with all of us for a lifetime. A Private Memorial Service will be held in BC in the spring. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Bill and Flo Moodie, trees will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.
