Obituary of SCHWAB – Mary ‘Carmel’

July 9, 1935 – November 26, 2009 It is with great sadness that Carmel Schwab’s family announces her passing on Thursday, November 26, 2009 after a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis and cancer. Born in Sydney, NS, Carmel was educated in Nova Scotia and taught for many years in Sydney before moving to Calgary in 1966. She continued to teach elementary school children in Calgary for the Calgary Catholic School Board until her retirement in 1981. She will always be remembered as a kind and compassionate lady. Carmel will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Tony Schwab. She is also survived by brothers Redmond (Rosella) of Stellarton, NS, and Brian (Margie) of Glace Bay, NS; sister Anne (Gregory) Blanchard of Dartmouth, NS; and several nieces and nephews. Carmel was the daughter of the late Charlotte and William Curtis. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (15 Templebow Road N.E.) on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (15 Templebow Road N.E.)
