Obituary of BOOTHBY – Dorothy Mae
December 19, 1930 – November 18, 2009
Dorothy Mae Boothby beloved wife of Bruce Boothby of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the age of 78 years.
Dorothy was born in Edmonton on December 19, 1930 and grew up on the family farm at Mearns. Upon completing her education, Dorothy worked as a secretary and enjoyed travelling Europe and the Caribbean. On November 19, 1960, she married Bruce Boothby and together they farmed at Cochrane where they raised two daughters, Susan and Joan. Dorothy dedicated her life to the care of her family, her greatest joy being her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Bruce of 49 years; daughters, Susan (David) Hall and their children, Craig and Emiline; Joan Owen and her children, Joel, Luke and Liam as well as by their father, Paul Owen. Dorothy is also survived by her sisters, Mildred (Ralph) Pahl and Sharon (Ben) Musey; brother-in-law, Ken Imler; sister-in-law, Lorraine Ellett and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Edgar Ellett; sister, Ruth Imler and her brother, Keith Ellett.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made directly to a charity of the donor’s choice. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Valley Ridge Retirement Lodge, the medical staff at Foothills Medical Center and to Dr. Jeanette Soriano and the staff who cared for her through the years.
