Obituary of TOBISCHKE – Johanna Annie
September 12, 1920 – November 17, 2009
Johanna “Annie” Tobischke of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the age of 89 years with her granddaughter Pam by her side.
Annie was born on September 12, 1920, in Etten Holland. Annie’s parents, John Sr. and Adriana, sister Cora, brother John Jr, immigrated to Canada in the spring of 1928. The family first settled at Strathmore, then later moved to Tincherbray District near Alliance. Annie met and later married Maxwell Taylor. To this union they had a son, Joseph who was born in 1940. On July 7, 1949, Annie married Klemens Tobischke. They enjoyed similar interests and a zest for life. Annie enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, and gardening. When Klemens’s health deteriorated, Annie was constantly by his side. Annie and Klemens resided in Alliance until 1972, when they moved to Calgary to enjoy their retirement years. On July 7, 1974 Annie and Klemens celebrated their silver anniversary. Annie was a “Social Butterfly”, enjoying bowling leagues, cards, Church, dining out with her numerous friends. Annie loved to celebrate special occasions. Klemens last wish for Annie was for her to see the world. Annie enjoyed her travelling whether it was to local places or her trips around the world- Holland, The Holyland, Las Vegas, P.E.I, Newfoundland, Egypt, California. Annie was always concerned about how “YOU” were doing.
Annie was predeceased by her brother John Jr. on Dec.17, 1948, who was killed in a work accident in Alliance at the young age of 24. Annie always felt the loss of her only brother at such a young age. She was also predeceased by her father, John Sr. on April 24, 1969, mother Adrianna on April 24, 1970, sister Cora Kiechinger on April 5, 2002, first husband Maxwell Taylor on Oct 16, 1946, second husband Klemens Tobischke on June 23, 1986, and her only child Joseph Taylor Dec.17, 2005. Annie is survived by Grandchildren Bruce (Terri) and Pam (Lorne); great granddaughter Sara; numerous nieces, nephews; and an “extremely large number of friends who were near and dear to Annie to the last moment.”
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Rd.
