Obituary of RITCHIE – William Douglas

February 16, 1930 – November 12, 2009 On Thursday, November 12, 2009, Bill Ritchie, beloved husband of Jean of Calgary, passed away at the age of 79 years after a brief illness with cancer. Bill graduated from the University of Alberta in 1957 with a Masters in Geology and spent the next thirty-five years in the Oil and Gas Industry. All will miss his love for the outdoors, his passion for nature, his zest for life and his delightful sense of humour. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the many thoughtful expressions of love and kindness from family and friends during this difficult time. We also wish to thank the Palliative Home Care Team and Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Center for their excellent care. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-seven years, Jean; his three children, Cameron (Anjo), Stephen (Nathalie) and Laura (Cody) Cutforth; nine grandchildren, Anneke, Carmen, Marco, Emma Ritchie, of Calgary, Tristan and Ixta Ritchie, of Sudbury, ON, and Jessie, Samantha and Jordyn Cutforth, of Vulcan, AB; brother Gary; and sisters, Margaret and Jean, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Bow Valley Christian Church (5300 – 53rd Avenue N.W.) on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
