Obituary of Anna Hinds

January 24, 1917 – November 12, 2009 After 92 years, Zella Hinds completed her life’s journey, November 12, 2009. Zella was born in Retlaw, AB on January 24, 1917 and attended school there. She met and married her true love Paul in 1935 and they enjoyed thirty-five years of life together. Paul and Zella farmed and conducted the family business along with their children in Iron Springs, Chin and Lethbridge, AB. Zella later also lived in Calgary and Airdrie. Zella enjoyed bowling, gardening, golf, getting her hair done and white wine. She was active in volunteer organizations throughout her life, most recently the Canadian Legion Auxiliary and Lion’s Club, both of Airdrie. Zella had many nieces and nephews and enjoyed their visits. She made friends easily and enjoyed the company of many different people during her life. Zella will be missed by her children, Mel (Shopie), Irv (Shirley), Carol, Bernie (Liane), Mike (Diane), Brad (Carrie) and Laura (Ron) Cuthbertson. Zella is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by her life partner, William Paul Hinds in January 1970; her father George Bennett; mother Sarah; brothers, Fred, Clifford, and Everett; sister Rhoda Lewis; and granddaughter Karen Lynn Hinds. Mom lived her live for love of family and friends, neither asking nor wanting anything in return. Her presence made life easier for everyone around her. We will miss her kind heart, her gentle touch, her soft laughter and the sparkle in her eyes. We love you Mom.
