Obituary of WATKINS – Raymond Herbert Cyril

August 22, 1920 – November 11, 2009 Ray Watkins, of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Ray served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. After the war he graduated from the University of Manitoba with an Electrical Engineering Degree. Ray was employed with Imperial Oil for 33 years retiring as a Geophysicist. During this time Ray and Bea travelled the world. He was proud to be a long time member of the Lion’s Club and devoted numerous volunteer hours. Ray was a founding member of the Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Branch #285. He took great pride in gardening and enjoyed fishing while spending time at One Island Lake in BC. Ray is survived by his children and their spouses, Doug and Bonnie Watkins, Joanne and Rick Hall, Maureen Watkins and Dale Fraser; son-in-law Ray Schmidt; grandchildren, Heather, Jessica and Joshua Watkins, Theresa (Derek) Gee, Shauna Hall, Jennifer and Michael Schmidt, Kurtis and Lance Fraser; his brother Al Watkins and sister Joyce Almond. Ray was predeceased by his wife Bernice (Bea) and daughter Linda Schmidt. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
