Obituary of Eric Hans SCHWESINGER
August 11, 1915 – November 8, 2009
Eric Schwesinger beloved husband of Avice Schwesinger of Calgary, passed away on November 8, 2009 at the age of 94 years.
Eric was born on the family homestead in Sundre, AB., on August 11, 1915. As a young boy, he moved to a farm with his family in Harmattan, AB. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Armed Forces and served overseas until returning home in 1946. While in England, he served as an instructor training in the operation of tanks and armed Bren Carriers. He married Avice on July 17, 1954 and together they made their home in Calgary. Eric’s love for the land and farm life remained close to him throughout his life. In the mid 1960’s he joined Pioneer Acres restoring and operating antique tractors, enjoying a life membership. Eric was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Eric is survived by his loving wife, Avice; his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Tamara of Calgary and their children, Russell and Leon. He is also survived by his god children, Christian Benson and Deborah Carroll as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Mathilda Marcellus.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W.), on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. A Private family graveside service to follow at Field on Honour, Queens Park Cemetery. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
