Obituary of SITTING EAGLE – Stewart Joseph

June 19, 1964 – November 4, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving father, husband, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. Stewart was born in Picture Butte, AB and raised in Siksika. Stewart is survived by his common-law spouse Audrey Saddle Back; his loving children – daughters, Cassie and Jessica; son Jay; step-children, Lynsey and Aaron Ayoungman and their mother Shirley. He is also survived by his brothers, Tony, Adrian, Edwin (Ruby), Ricky, Curtis (Janine), and Jim Brookes; sisters, Sandra (Radford) Black Rider and Vivian (Richard) Sitting Eagle; his adopted children, Rosario (Jumbo) Saddle Back and Derian; uncles, Simon (Josephine), Gerald (Laura) Sitting Eagles, and Joe (Claudia) Patrick; aunties, Doreen (Oliver) Jerry, Patricia Drunken Chief; and Georgina Sitting Eagle; and great-aunts, Roberta (Orville) Pelletier and Maggie Black Kettle; many cherished nieces and nephews. Stewart will also be missed by his extended families and relatives, Sitting Eagles, Leather, Jerry, Running Bird, Weasel Head, Spring Chiefs, Calf Robes, Bear Robe, Rabbit Carrier, Bear Shirts, Scalp Locks, Duck Chief, Big Eyes, and McMaster all of Siksika Nation, Weasel Moccasin and Wings of Stand-off and Red Calf, Big Child of Rocky Mountain House, White Calfs, Swindlers of Saskatchewan, Windy Boy, Standing Rock, Slim John of Montana, U.S.A. He was predeceased by his paternal great-grandparents Jim and Alpa Jerry; grandparents, Simon and Mary Sitting Eagle; maternal grandparents Paul and Josephine Weasel Head; parents John (Pauline) Sitting Eagle and Priscilla Sitting Eagle; siblings, Gordon, Alton and Orden; nephew Justin; and great-niece Faith Backfat, Latazmyn Healy-Calf. Wake Services will be held at the Little Washington Community Centre (Siksika Nation, AB) on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Washington Cemetery (Siksika Nation).
