Obituary of GILBERT – Robert Francis

January 9, 1930 – November 4, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Gilbert, a born and raised Calgarian, on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at the age of 79 years. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-four years, Isabella (Bella); his children, Pat, Marg (Dale), and Bill; and grandchildren, Rob, Andrew, Kate (Chris), and James, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his brother, Ted (Danielle); sisters, Helen, and Marilyn (Dave); special sister-in-law, Toby (Vern); and close friends, Lyn and Jim. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Florence, Frank and Gladys. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who always had time for everyone and never said a mean word. He loved going out for culinary delights with his wife, visiting his mountains with his children and grandchildren, his frequent trips to Victoria, and the Flames games family gatherings. Bob was an active member of his church and had a deep conviction for his faith. He was also active with the Army and Navy, loved his coffee time at Westbourne, his darts, and most of all, his word searches. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
