Obituary of LAIMON – Rose

March 24, 1917 – November 3, 2009 Mrs. Rose Laimon of Calgary, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Mayfair Care Centre on November 3, 2009 at the age of 92 years. She was the proud daughter of the late Ann and Bill Polsky and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bud Laimon. Rose was a dedicated mother, and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her children: Laurie Laimon, and Kenny Laimon and his wife Barbara, and her grandchildren: Len and Jonathan Ross, and Marilyn Laimon. She is also survived by her brother, Melvin Polsky, sisters-in-law, Sylvia and Reata Polsky and many nieces and nephews who took comfort in her honesty, sense of humor and her gift for storytelling. Born in Winnipeg in 1917, Rose arrived in Calgary at the age of 14. She was a truly adventurous, spirited Calgarian who grew up horseback riding in Banff, speed-skating at the old Crystal rink, and tap dancing. Her later activities included reading and swimming and she was a Master traditional Yiddish cook. As well, Rose was a long-standing member of Hadassah-Wizo. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the wonderful staff at the Mayfair Care Centre who helped to make the final year of her life very secure and comfortable. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Calgary Jewish Family Services, or the Chron’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. Graveside Services will be held at the Jewish Cemetery (30th Avenue & Erlton Street S.W.)
