Obituary of COOKE – Donald Harry

August 24, 1935 – October 18, 2009 Donald H. Cooke passed away at Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the age of 74 years. Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jean and children Jeff (Linda), Janis (Shane), Sheryn (Brent) and Steve. “Papa” will also be missed by his grandchildren Taylor, Adam, Courtney and Connor. Don is also survived by his two brothers, Allan and Ken of Winnipeg and an extended family throughout western Canada. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Don spent his career in the steel industry with Dominion Bridge and later with Fisher Ludlow. Don was active in sports throughout his life with 5 pin bowling and later, lawn bowling being his passion. His love of the outdoors was well known and he enjoyed countless hours of fishing, hunting, canoeing and camping. The Cooke family would like to thank Dr. Peter Thornton, the wonderful staff of unit 94 at RGH and the staff of the 1 East wing at the Glenmore Park Carewest facility for caring for Don and providing support to the family throughout Don’s time with them. In accordance with Don’s wishes there will not be any formal services taking place. Don wished to be cremated and the family will celebrate Don’s life privately.
