Obituary of Linnea Ann ELFORD

February 10, 1946 – October 17, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Linnea Ann Elford announce her passing, Saturday, October 17, 2009, following a brave battle with cancer. Linnea was born and raised in Euclid, Ohio and graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelors degree in Education. She emigrated from the USA in 1970 to settle in Calgary and raise her family. Following a brief stay in British Columbia she and her family returned to Calgary where Linnea resumed teaching. She first taught at University Elementary and then served Calgary’s NE community of Temple for many years at Guy Weadick Elementary School. Linnea retired in 2008 following over 20 years of service to the Calgary Board of Education. She often travelled to the sunny beaches of San Diego to enjoy her native country. Linnea is survived by her devoted lifelong friend and husband Robin; daughters, Kristen, Jessica, and Lisa; much loved grandchildren Gabrielle and Madeline; sister, Karen and her children Marika and Michael. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Edenbrook Memorial Gardens.
