Obituary of JAQUES – William MacLean

March 31, 1920 – October 15, 2009 William MacLean (Mac) Jaques beloved husband of Mina, of Calgary passed away peacefully on October 15, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Mac was born in Kisbey, SK on March 31, 1920. Upon graduation from the Yorkton Collegiate Institute in Yorkton, SK, he joined the Royal Bank of Canada which became his life-long career, serving in Montreal, various communities in Saskatchewan and in Calgary. His banking career was temporarily interrupted when he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 serving until 1945, whereupon discharge he resumed his banking career. Mac retired from the Royal Bank in 1977. During his lifetime he was active in community affairs, serving with various service clubs, Chambers of Commerce, and a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 285 here in Calgary. Mac always took an interest in financial affairs and politics, and was an ardent sports fan. His bright and sometimes witty outlook on life will be greatly missed by his wife Mina, relatives and friends. Mac is survived by Mina, his loving wife of sixty-five years. Together they had one son, William, who died in a traffic accident in 1977. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Janet, five brothers Harold, Robert, Ernest, David and Paul and a sister Ann. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Jessie Jaques and numerous nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.
