Obituary of JONES – Dennis

March 12, 1926 – October 10, 2009 Dennis Jones of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at Chinook Hospice on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the age of 83 years. Dennis was born in Scollard, AB and was raised in Ponoka, AB. During World War II he served in the Canadian Scottish Regiment and the Canadian Provost Corps in England. After the War, he worked on the oil rigs in northern Alberta where an accident led him to spend time in a hospital in Edmonton where he met and fell in love with Joanne, his future wife of fifty-six years. He later worked for the Royal Canadian Air Force in Northern Canada before settling in Calgary to raise his family. A loving father and devoted husband, Dennis was truly loved by all who met him. Dennis is survived by one daughter, Kathryn (Lyle) Fanter of St. Albert; two sons, Ross (Sandra) of Calgary, and Ken (Alison) of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Todd Fanter and Jessica Rutledge (nee: Fanter), Steven and Laura Jones, and Sean and Stephanie Jones. He was predeceased by his loving wife Joanne, and his brothers, Howard and David Jones.
