Beth & Jodi – It was thirty two years ago when we met Vern as newcomers to Calgary. Vern became an instant friend and gave us guidance on many matters of which he was knowledgeable – especially backgammon. I was gammoned, double gammoned and I’m sure thrice gammoned by Vern. He was the equally graceful in the many victories as in the few defeats. His humor and wit was incomparable. We respected him. We were fortunate to have visited your home as guests on several occasions, in the garage and most poignantly on our last evening in Calgary. I wish I could give back the hug Vern gave me that night. We are deeply sorrowed to learn of his passing. Although much time has passed, the Enns family has been in our thoughts and will be so forever.

I had intended to see you at todays memorial service, but I came down ill and did not wish to expose your guests.

Although we rarely saw each other – the occasional convention, I have always enjoyed Vern and your antics together. Linda & I both wish you both the very best.

I do not believe that we have ever met, but I had the pleasure of working with your husband on a few files in my capacity as a lawyer for insurance companies. I also had the pleasure of getting to know Vern in a social context at various industry functions. Vern had an incredible sense of humour and an infectious laugh. He used to make me laugh every time I saw him. In fact, just looking at him would make me laugh because I knew he would soon say something hilarious. I was so sad to hear of his passing. I just saw Vern a couple of weeks ago at a party for Dave Kreklewich of Wawanesa Insurance.

I am very sorry for your loss. Vern was a very special man. I will miss him. You and Vern are in my prayers.
