Obituary of MacMillan – George Shaw

March 10, 1933 – October 9, 2009 It is with a heavy heart that we announce that George Shaw MacMillan left us on Friday, October 9, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Life began for George in Alberry Plains, PEI, March 10, 1933. He graduated from McGill University and worked for Standard Oil/ Chevron Canada Resources for twenty-five years before consulting on several oil and gas related projects. George’s ventures included a cattle farm in PEI, real estate and being a landlord throughout the years. George was often seen in his treasured sports cars with the red toolbox or lawn mower hanging from the trunk, on his way to maintain one of his ventures. George was a best friend to many, and will be deeply missed by his many faithful friends and loving family. All who knew him will miss his great sense of humour, generous spirit, and his appreciation for life which often included lunch with his friends. George was truly appreciative and thankful for his many friendships right to the end. Thank you for continuing your friendships through an uncomfortable time. This has not gone unnoticed. George we miss you already and “you take care”. Love Always. George is survived by the love of his life of over fifty-two years, Fran (nee Wilson); his loving daughter Tracey of Calgary; his loving son Shaw (Jane) of Ladner, BC; his three granddaughters, Emma, Katie, and Halle; his sisters Edna (John) Gosbee of Calgary, Marina (Barry) Westhaver of Victoria, BC, and Florine (Barry) Sigsworth of Alberry Plains, PEI; brother John (Eleanor) of Stratford, PEI; as well as nieces and nephews from coast to coast.
