Obituary of Joan Boyd Thomson

March 4, 1920 – October 6, 2009 Joan Boyd Thomson (Gibb) passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on October 6, 2009. Joan will be lovingly remembered by Allan, her husband of 67 years, her children, Bob (Heather) of Ottawa, David (Christine), Maureen (Rick) Wolcott and Nancy (Alan) Birch, all of Calgary. Nonie’s life was enriched by her nine grandchildren, Kim (Christopher) Wolcott-Tindall, Boyd Thomson, Jason (Andrea) Wolcott, Brendan (Gillian) Thomson, Pam Thomson, Meghan Wolcott, Erin (Homayoon) Nayeri, and Candace (Ryan) and Tracey Birch, and recently by her great grandson, Benjamin Tindall. She will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews, and long time family friends, especially Georgie Holt of Winnipeg and Dot Walton of Brandon. Joan was born in Winnipeg on March 4, 1920. She and Allan were married on August 22, 1942. They were faithful members of the United Church in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Moose Jaw, Shebandowan and Calgary. Nonie loved the great outdoors, especially pickerel fishing at their home on Lake Shebandowan, Ontario, where she and Allan spent their retirement before moving to Calgary. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 1:00 P.M.
