Obituary of BURY-BURZYMSKI – Minnie

September 21, 1913 – October 4, 2009 Minnie Bury-Burzymski of Calgary passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the age of 96 years. Minnie was born in Blackpool, England on September 21, 1913. Minnie worked as a WAF in WWII where she was a truck driver and mechanic. She married her husband Joseph after the war and immigrated to Canada in 1950, settling in Calgary. Minnie worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company for over twenty years, until her retirement in 1978. Minnie loved the mountains, hiking, travelling, classical opera, knitting, stitchery, and working on crosswords in pen. Minnie is survived by her sister Joan Tavares of Cornwall, England, and by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends in England, Scotland, and Canada. Minnie was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph in 1970. A Memorial Service celebrating Minnie’s life will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (1121 – 14th Avenue S.W.) on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
