Just heard the news of Lloyd’s passing and was shocked and saddened as was everyone who was priviledged to have met him. Although I have lost touch with everyone from high school and university (been living in Bahamas, etc. for many years) Lloyd was the kind of person one never forgot. He was so intelligent but also always had a laugh to share. He truly left his mark on all who knew him, and Lana and family, my heart aches for your loss. My thoughts are with you.

Sorry to hear about Lloyd’s passing. Our daughter Rhonda who passed away 6 years ago was a big fan of Aaron. We met Aaron two years ago at the Kinmount Fair. I still remember the great times we had at the Miskanaw Golf Course playing golf with Lloyd and of course having a few cold ones after the game.

I am very sorry for your loss. I never met him but through the pictures on the facebook site to remember him by I almost felt like I knew him by the time I was done looking at the pictures. Marty and I know that you are going through what will probably be one of the most difficult times in your lives, but know that Lloyd has left wonderful memories with everyone he knew. We were just watching some silent home movies of some of his antics during the 1970’s … like the time we were moose hunting and the moose bumped into his tent wires in the middle of the night. Lloyd bagged that one wearing his “hunting shorts” on that cold fall night. And there was the time we were using your family volkswagon to hunt across the Clearwater River. When coming back with a moose in the car we had to put it onto a home made barge to travel across the river. The barge dipped as we turned the corner into the Snye and off went the car. It floated for a couple of hundred yards at least! Wilf pulled it out in the middle of the night by driving his truck on the new golf course fairways to get access to it. Lloyd then sold the car to Tiny O’Brien (King of the North) for $1.00. And with the new Pinto station wagon you got to replace it, we wound up in a serious mud hole. It was so stuck we almost had to quarter it to get it out. And there was the snowmobile that Lloyd could drive so fast that he could snap the stock off his new rifle when he rolled it. And then there was the home built airboat that smoked so much we thought the whole boat was on fire as we saw him coming up the river. That was also quite a sight seeing Lloyd on the back snapping the propeller to start it. It was a wonder he still had two hands. And we can’t forget the time he was walking chest deep, one hand on the canoe, hoping he would step on the outboard motor he lost when he flipped the canoe by inadvertently tying the anchor rope to the side of it in a strong current. Never did find the motor! And then there was the motor boat at Gregoire when Jay thought we were close enough to shore to get out and he disappeared under the boat. And there were the jet boat trips to Ft. Chip (200 miles) when we couldn’t find the Athabasca River on our way back because the lake shoreline was lined with bullrushes for miles and miles and it all looked the same. We usually found it quite by accident. We even watched a movie of Lloyd throwing a hunting knife at an apple on Wilf’s head. Lloyd told me to take separate clips of him throwing the knife and Wilf standing as the target because he wanted to show Wilf with the punctured apple only after Lloyd could carefully stick the knife in it by hand. And then there was the time Lloyd arranged for someone to wear a gorilla suit and run into John Nawolski’s bathroom while John was taking a bath. And yes, that was the very first tsunami to occur in a bath tub. This was after an earlier episode where the gorilla was chased around the ring road by dogs and a guy with a shotgun who thought it was a bear!

Lloyd has left us with many fond memories of dozens and dozens of boating, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and camping trips. Lloyd helped make our early days in Fort McMurray a great place to live and we enjoyed many adventures which we will always cherish. Lana, we will send you copies of the pictures and video that we have.

None of you probably know me but I went to school with Lloyd back in Swift Current between 1956 and 1958, during our elementary school days at Dickson school. In 1958 our family moved to Edmonton then to Kelowna then Calgary. The honest truth is that for the past fifty years I’ve often wondered where Lloyd was living and what he is doing and if he has a family. I am so delighted to find that that he has a loving family and that he lived a good life. Well, I want to tell you that he was a class act and a real friend when he was 12 years old.
