Obituary of WALKER – Geraldine Elizabeth

October 12, 1928 – October 2, 2009 Geraldine Elizabeth Walker passed away peacefully with her husband and daughter at her side after a long difficult battle with cancer on Friday, October 2, 2009 at the age of 80 years. She loved to dance and won many awards as well as teaching highland and ballroom dancing. She became a distinguished floral designer in Calgary and worked and taught for many years in the industry. Gerri was a past member of IODE and Daughters of the Nile. She loved being an active member of the Gyrettes, serving as President and many other positions, where she has many dear friends. Gerri loved to travel and she and Bob were able to see many parts of the world during her life. Gerri is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 58 years Robert Walker, her only daughter Christine Elizabeth Hegi (Tom), “the apple of her eye” grandson Colin Hegi (Michala) and two beautiful great-granddaughters, Chloe Christine and Sadie Elizabeth. Nan will also be sadly missed by Dwayne, Liana, Ania, Abbey and Jenny Bohn as well as many other special friends. Gerri’s Grandfather Jeremiah Sullivan came to Calgary in 1883 and she was the only daughter of Bill and Edna Sullivan. Gerri/Nan – Always loved, forever missed. Gerri and Family really appreciated the special care received at the Southwood Hospice and the wonderful Palliative Home Care. Special thanks to Carol and Renata as well as Dr. Marc Kerba, Dr. Martin LaBrie and Dr. James Powell. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Gerri’s life to be held at the Four Points Sheraton, 8220 Bowridge Cres. NW. Saturday, October 10, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:00PM. In lieu of flowers your charitable donation may be made in Gerri’s memory to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
