Obituary of DERWICH – Jan
July 3, 1927 – September 28, 2009
Jan Derwich passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the age of 82 years.
Jan was born in Suchorzew, Poland. In 1953 he married Margarete in Poland and then emigrated from Germany in 1966 to come to Calgary. Jan worked in the steel industry for most of his life. His biggest passion in life was his family and building his cabin on the Kootenay Lake in British Columbia.
Besides his loving wife Margarete, Jan is survived by his children, Barbara, Ingrid (Jerzy) Swiatkiewicz, Elisabeth (Phillip) Gregory; grandchildren, Kyle and Robert; brother Edmund; sister Ola of Poland; and numerous relatives in Poland and Germany.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace (2111 Uxbridge Drive N.W.) on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. Forward condolences through .
