Obituary of TAYLOR – Robert James
June 8, 1922 – September 26, 2009
Robert (Bob) Taylor passed away in Calgary on September 26, 2009 after a lengthy hospital stay.
He was born in Prince Albert, SK., and was predeceased by his wife Edna and sister Nonie. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Sargent Major in the Regina Rifles. While stationed in England he met and married his wife Edna who joined him in Canada as a war bride in 1946. Bob joined the Royal Bank in Prince Albert in 1939 and left to enlist in the Armed Forces in June 1940. He served in the European Theatre from August 1941 to September 1946. On return to Canada, he re-joined the Royal Bank in 1947 and in 1949 he left to take up residence in the United Kingdom for the period September 1949 to September 1953. Returning to Canada, he rejoined the Royal Bank in 1953 where he had a long and successful career as Branch Manager of several branches in Alberta; Senior Credit Inspector for the bank; Manager of Independent Business Marketing; and District Inspector of Branches for Alberta and Northwest Territories. He retired from the bank in 1983 after which he enjoyed several consulting positions in the financial sector.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his son David R. Taylor (Judith) of Mississauga, ON; a grandson Dr. Michael Taylor (Susan) of Toronto; a granddaughter Andrea Taylor (Stephanie Barjolin) of Toronto and great granddaughter Alexandra, great grandsons Robert and Andrew (children of Michael and Susan). Bob is survived by a sister Joan of Powell River, a brother Allan of Toronto, and a sister Linda of Toronto.
Bob expressed the wish to have no formal funeral, and this will be respected by his family who will join to celebrate his life privately.
