Obituary of NARRAWAY – Lionel McKechnie

May 31, 1921 – September 24, 2009 It is with great sorrow we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of Lionel, beloved husband, father and great-grandfather. Lionel is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years Anne; son Craig (Joan); three beloved grandchildren, Tad (Caroline), Trevor (Lori), and Lisa; and five great-grandchildren. After spending five years overseas in the 8th Field Ambulance Medical Corps, Lionel returned to finish High School and then Engineering at the U of A. Lionel was instrumental in designing many of the pipelines and gathering systems in Alberta, finishing his many years in the oil business as President of Koch Oil / Bow River Pipelines in Calgary. He was a pioneering member of the Glendale Community Centre and the Tri Glen Baseball League. In retirement, Lionel was successful in helping pursue the Alberta Government, on behalf of the Kirby Centre, for compensation to the investors of the Cormie – Principal Group collapse. Lionel was a role model for his grandchildren and loved them dearly.
