Obituary of CROFTS – George Barry

July 19, 1945 – September 22, 2009 George Crofts, beloved husband of Gloria Crofts of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, with his loving wife of forty-one years and sister by his side. George was born in Southey, SK and raised in the Earl Grey area, then moved to Regina with his family when he was sixteen. He was a financial advisor with Great West Life. He studied hard and worked diligently to provide financial service to his many clients, resulting in strong bonds of respect and friendship. George was a member of the Calgary Alberta Watch and Clock Collectors. His passion for collectables was fulfilled by his many trips to Calgary flea markets and garage sales, looking for the perfect deal. George was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping all his life. Even when his health was failing he enjoyed many hours by the river and Glenmore reservoir fishing rod in hand. He is survived by his mother Mary Theaker; wife Gloria; son Bradley (Natasha); and daughter Stephanie Black (Michael); three much beloved grandchildren, Colin, Chelsea and Sean; one brother Howard (Constance); sister Linda Kostiuk (Peter); nephews, Cameron, Jeremy and Taylor; niece Tara; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. George will be greatly missed by his many friends. He was predeceased by his father K. Roy; infant sister Vera; and nephew Ryan. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S “Fish Creek Chapel” (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the marvellous staff at Foothills Hospital stroke unit and unit 36 for their kind, compassionate care provided to George over the past few months.
