Obituary of GARDNER – Katherine
September 16, 1916 – September 22, 2009
Katherine (Kay) Gardner, died at Wentworth Manor after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the age of 93 years.
Born September 16, 1916 in Eldorena, AB, Kay lived her life in Calgary since a very early age. Kay will be fondly remembered for her nurturing and compassionate ways, her love of family, and her warm and generous hospitality. Remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be greatly missed.
Kay is survived by her sons, William (Elizabeth), Fred (Marilyn), and Douglas (Doreen) Gardner; son-in-law Arthur Lugg; sisters, Jean Harvey, Olga (Walter) Powell, and Nettie (George) Elford; and brothers, Nick (Ruby) Gregory and Walter (Karan) Gregory. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her husband Paul Gardner; son Ken Gardner; daughter Carolyn Lugg; sisters, Anne and Mary; and parents Mike and Annie Gregory.
A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
