Obituary of WADE – Helen

June 14, 1937 – September 18, 2009 Helen Wade of Calgary, passed away on September 18, 2009 at the age of 72 years. Helen was born June 14, 1937 at the family farmhouse near Lestock, SK. She grew up in the Lestock and Regina areas before moving to Calgary, Toronto and returning to Calgary. On June 16, 1956, Helen married Alex Wade, and together they made their home raising a family of five children. Helen was very devoted to her church and community. She was a long time member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, the Catholic Women’s League, Red Hat Society, Red Cross and Happy Gang Choir. In her retirement years, Helen and Alex also enjoyed travelling and taking cruises to many places throughout the world. She loved listening to country music, giving a helping hand to others, and most of all, to be with her children and grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband Alex and parents Michael and Suzanne Lukas. Helen is survived by her loving children, Alec Wade (Imbi Kannel) of Toronto, ON, Larry Wade (Dea Christian) of Dallas, Texas, Sandra Wade and Tim Wade (Sarah FitzGerald) both of Calgary and Terry Wade (Nicole Karras) of Fonthill, ON; eleven grandchildren, Eliasz, Robert, Lucas, Alyssa (Allie), James (Kallsen), Marshall, Irene, Mitchell, Melanie, Ellen and Georgia. Helen is also survived by her mother-in-law Olga Wojna; sisters, Anne (Bob) Clark and Mary (Gene) Gazda, sister-in-law Anne, and brother-in-law Wally. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
