Condolences
Anita; Victoria, Gordon, Vivianne, Alexandra, Bruce and Family:
I met Ed when I joined Mobil Oil Canada as a Junior Geophysicist, in 1973. Later in the 70s and early 80s I also met his three, attractive daughters there, or on the Lakeview area buses. I was never fortunate enough to meet his sons; but I heard lots of very good things about all of his family from Ed (and his friends). Ed introduced me to Anita in 2007. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; and was so justifiably proud of his family! Whenever I could, I tried to “pick his brains; on how to succeed as a spouse and parent” (time will tell on how well I’ve learnt his “tips and tricks”)!
As a professional, Ed always offered sound advice combined with an easy companionship (enhanced usually by an infectious little chuckle). He was a true gentleman who was widely respected and liked; he was the sort of friendly, trustworthy person that one would instinctively seek out at any gathering. He will be sorely missed by me, and others!
May God bless and give to you all; the strength to endure your great loss, and to recover gently during the difficult days ahead!
Sincerely,
Rich Mayers
PS: Gordon: As an eldest son who has also buried his father, I offer my praise and respect for your moving eulogy at Friday’s service. A difficult task that was well done indeed!
I want to express my sympathy at hearing about the loss of Mr. Kohse. I have fond memories of such a nice neighbour and family man.
Anita and Vicki, I was so sorry to hear that Ed has passed away. He was such a kind man and I greatly appreciated his friendship and mentorship at Mobil. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Vicki

To Viv and Mrs. Kohse and the whole Kohse Family;
I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad and Husband.
I was just speaking to Rod (my husband) on the weekend about your family and how much you all meant to me during my childhood, and reminiscing about the many wonderful moments with you. Viv! Who could forget our Lemon Meringue Pie with the “cement crust” that your family ( including your Dad) so bravely ate for dessert? and the laughs we all shared? Your home was always a warm and welcoming place to me and I treasure the memories of my happy times with “The Kohses”. Your Dad was a calm and cheerful man and had a way of making me feel special. I remember when he did his own version of “rap” before we even knew what it was!! I am thinking of all of you in this difficult time with great affection. Thanks for the memories.
Love from “just Joan”
