Obituary of LAWSON – John Varcoe

1926 – 2009 John Lawson, beloved husband of the late Bernice Lawson of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at the age of 83 years. John was born and raised in Regina, SK. He came to Calgary in 1945 as a Private in the Canadian Army. He then pursued a career as a railroad breakman with the CPR. John served as volunteer fire chief for the Montgomery Fire Department in the early 1960’s. After retirement he enjoyed his hobbies which included model railroads, radio controlled model boats, woodwork and home maintenance. John is survived by his three sons, David, Richard and Gary, all of Calgary; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herbert Asp of Kingman, AB, Muriel Hyde of Vancouver, BC, and Douglas Asp, and Anne Shuttleworth of Victoria, BC. Family Graveside Service will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
