Obituary of SOKOLOWSKI – Stanislaw Stanley
April 06, 1916 – September 7, 2009

Stanley passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 7, 2009 at the age of 93 years.
Stanley was born in St. Petersburg, Russia and enlisted in the Polish Armed Forces in 1937. During the war he served in the British 8th Army, Polish 2nd Corps, 5th Kresowa Division and proudly fought in Italy-Monte Cassino. He immigrated to Canada in 1948 and settled in Coleman where he worked in the mines for ten years. In 1958 the family moved to Calgary where he started work at Con-Force Structures. He retired after twenty five years. Stan was an active member of the SPK Polish Combatants Association, and an avid fisherman.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Anastazja, his children, Beatrice (David) Dickins, Mary (Wayne) McDougall, Lucy (Tim) Henry, Mark (Edith) Sokolowski; grandchildren Paul (Maggie), Greg McDougall, David, Mark Dickins and his sister Victoria in Poland
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Polish Catholic Church (2111 Uxbridge Drive N.W.) on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow in the Field of Honour at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
