Obituary of BALLANTINE – Dorothy

September 6, 1925 – September 6, 2009 Dorothy Ballantine, affectionately known as “Grandma Dorothy” to most, passed away peacefully at Wentworth Manor with her daughters at her side. After several years of declining health she made a “Cinderella” exit just before midnight on her 84th birthday. Dorothy was one of six children born to Alice (Weeden) and Cyril Whaite of Manchester, England. In 1957 she made Canada her home where she lived in Ontario, B.C. and Alberta. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her three children, Michael Ballantine, Lorraine Ballantine, and Joanne (Peter) Neweduk and seven grandchildren, Samantha, James, Marleah, Gaelan, David, Anneliese, and Natasha. She will also be missed by her sister Marjorie (Henry) Scurrah of England and brother-in-law Victor (Joanne) Batten, plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
