Obituary of POWDERFACE – Darryl Fenton

June 16, 1967 – August 27, 2009 Darryl Powderface, was suddenly called home by our Creator on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the age of 42 years. Darryl was born in Calgary, AB. He received his education in Morley. He was a hard worker, a handy man that would help anyone that needed his help and never turned down a job that was asked of him. He had a hand shake and a smile for everyone he met and made sure he or she left smiling. In his younger days he enjoyed many sport activities such as hockey, skiing, volley ball and baseball. He even tried his hand at horse racing as a jockey. His dream to be a cowboy led him to the JC Trujillo Bareback Riding clinic in Twin Falls, ID in the early 1980’s. His passion was his Stoney Traditional way of life, hunting, fishing, round dance. Darryl was part of the Chinki Lake Singers. They travelled all over North America, winning in drumming/ singing contests. Darryl is survived by his children, Chassidy, Chantelle, Darrylina, Darius, and Tyboyd; his parents Gerald and Velma Powderface; brother, Frank Jr. (Tracy), Jonas; sisters Wyo, Lisa, Rachel (Cedric) Claudine, Ingrid; adopted brothers, Barry (Marjorie), Keith (Jubileen), Hank (Joleen), Calvin Sapp, and Dalroy and; adopted sisters Alnora, Bernadine (Charles), and Deanne (Jesse); Uncles/Aunts Charles (Mina), Evangeline (Van), Florence (Bruce), Ollie (Ronalda), Elliott (Gwen), Mark (Francis), John Hunter Jr., Lawrence (Charlene), Jennifer, Earl (Norma) Littlechild, Elroy (Debbie), Violet (Richard), Clifford (Verna), Wayne Monnais, John Bull, Bruce (Deanne) Starlight; grandmothers Nora, Stella, Florence, Doris (Billy), Louise Bird and; grandfather Lawrence Dixon; close cousins Moj, Bubba, Chi Chi, Gare, Jonas and Brad (Spirit),; numerous relatives (200+), Baptiste, Chiniquay, Dixon, Ear, Hunter, Holloway, Kootenay, Labelle, Lefthand, Mark, McLean, Poucette, Powder, Powderface, Rabbit, Simeon, Snow, Stephens, Twoyoungmen, Wesley, Young from Big Horn, Eden Valley, Hobbema, Idaho, Paul Band, Siksika, Sarcee, Saskatchewan, Oregon and Washington. Darryl was predeceased by grandparents Frank and Caroline Powderface; Paul Dixon Jr., Lily Benjamin, and Peter Bird; brother Evan; adopted brother Tony; nieces Evangeline, Amandaline; nephew Evan Jr.; aunts Shirley, Norma, Bertha; uncles Willard, Michael, Rudy, Vern, Gilbert, Harvey Bird; cousins Roderick, Vernon, Clement, Cory “Gug”, Jordina and; and brother-in-law John Daniels.. Wake Services will be held at the residence of the late Darryl Powderface (Morley, AB) on Monday, August 31, 2009 and Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Funeral Services will be held at Morley Gymnasium (Morley, AB) on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery (Morley, AB).
