Obituary of Imants GRUIKIS

May 29, 1924 – August 26, 2009 Imants Gruikis of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 after a lengthy illness at the age of 85 years. Imants was born in Latvia and immigrated to England before coming to Canada in 1953. Imants settled in Calgary where he worked as a Heavy Duty Mechanic with the City of Calgary until his retirement in 1984. Imants enjoyed gardening and handyman work. Imants is survived by his sister Mirdza of Latvia; his caregiver Susie Crum; and his close friends, Elaine Brown and Al McDougall, both of Calgary and Gloria Brisson of St. Albert. He was predeceased by his sister Veronica of British Columbia. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
