Obituary of Frederick Fred William JOHNSTON

November 8, 1937 – Winnipeg, Manitoba October 31, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta Fred passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Dulcina Hospice on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the age of 80 years. Fred met Janet in Winnipeg, MB and they married on November 12, 1960. They moved to Calgary in 1972 and there, they raised their three children. Fred worked for Air Canada for twenty-seven years. He then owned a gift shop at the Port-O-Call Inn. Before retiring he worked with Hi-Hog Farm and Ranch Equipment as a Marketing Manager. Some of Fred’s many hobbies included fishing, gardening, woodworking, bird watching, painting, drawing and wine making. Fred will be remembered as a loyal, considerate and thoughtful person. He leaves to mourn his wife and love of fifty-eight years, Janet (Bauer) Johnston; his two daughters Candace Goerzen (Leland) and Jennifer Cardone (Remo); and daughter-in-law, Heather Allison (Brian). He will be dearly missed by his eight grandchildren Amanda MacMurdo (Shawn), Melissa Goerzen, Ashley Moore (Steve), Martina Cardone, Matthew Johnston, Christian Cardone, Anthony Cardone, Tyler Johnston; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Bryan Johnston (Sophie) and Bruce Johnston (Barbara); and numerous other cherished family members and friends. He was predeceased by beloved son Gregory Johnston. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church () on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
