Obituary of GORMAN – John Thomas

June 24, 1929 – August 21, 2009 “To him who does what in him lies, God will not deny his grace.” -St. Augustine of Hippo Our beloved father Jack, a loving husband, brother, grandfather, uncle and a proud Notre Dame Hound passed away Friday, August 21, 2009 at Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Full of humility and intellectually gifted, our father lived a rich and colourful life. His mentor, Father Athol Murray, promoted the integration of mind, body and spirit which Jack embodied every single day, healthy or not. Our father never fathomed how much he was loved by us and by you. Action Jackson’s numerous accomplishments were secondary to the process of achieving them. Every day was full of laughter, kindness, wit, loyalty to those close to him and a search for the truth regarding the subject of the day. It is impossible to express how much we will all miss him. We intend to carry on his voice and spirit and be forever grateful that he touched us all. With deep gratitude we want to thank Pamela, Jack’s wife, for her loving care and support during our dad’s difficult health issues. The family wishes to send their kindest thanks to the ER staff at Foothills hospital on August 21 for their grand efforts. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W.) on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. A Private Family Graveside Service will take place at Cochrane Cemetery, Cochrane, AB.
