Obituary of EDWARDS – Sidney Adam

February 11, 1962 – August 20, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Sidney Adam Edwards. Sidney (Sid to many) was born and raised in Rocky Mountain House, AB and later moved to Calgary where he attended school at P.I.C.S. and then S.A.I.T. In 1981 Sid moved to Siksika Nation where he raised his children and lived the rest of his life. Sid took part in many sports, and has received many distinguished awards for his athletic endeavours, although his one passion from the beginning has always been basketball. Sid had many friends from all walks of life and will always be lovingly remembered for his easy going attitude and fun loving ways. Sidney is survived by his wife Karen, children Keith (Carmen) Yellowfly, Leland (Patricia) Edwards and Sherida Yellowfly; his grandchildren Kage Yellowfly, Thelma Yellowfly, Luke Wells and Sidney Leland Edwards Jr; brothers Wesley Louis (Onion Lake) Anthony Brown (Mameo Beach), Randy Alexander (Delores), Jesse Edwards (Genevieve), Anthony Edwards (Doris) and Greg Edwards (Delores); sisters Velda Leather, Pearline Edwards and Pamela Edwards and extended family Leathers, Sitting Eagle, Jerry, Melting Tallow, Whitecalf, Windy Boy, Standing Rock, Redcalf, Daychief, Lagrelle, Weekus and Noon, Butterfly, Red Old Man and Solway. Sidney was predeceased by his father Adam Edwards, mother Lillian Leather, grandparents Amos and Edna Leather and Paul and Mary Edwards (Meewaywaysis) and nephews Steven Edwards, Elijah Bird and Silas Paul Edwards. Wake Services were held at the Little Washington Community Centre (Siksika Nation, AB) on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Washington Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
