Obituary of POLYAK – Gustav Jan
March 23, 1945 – August 17, 2009
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Gus (Gustav) Polyak on Monday, August 17, 2009 at the age of 64 years. He was surrounded by his family and will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Gus was born in Kralovsky Chlmec, Czechoslovakia on March 23, 1945. He immigrated to Canada in 1969 where he met his loving and devoted wife Eva. They married in 1971 and had two daughters, Monica and Jennifer. Gus was very driven, he was a successful builder and realtor where he enjoyed an outstanding career for over 30 years and became a member of the MLS Million Dollar Club. He was a strong and confident person, well liked and respected by everyone he met. His daughters nicknamed him “Rocky” because of his strong will to fight and battle his cancer the best he could, beating it three times prior.
Gus is survived by his wife, and two daughters, his brother Peter and sister Kata, as well as his sister-in-law Rena, her husband Jurgen and his nephew Cody.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24 Street S.W.) on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
