Obituary of Patrick Pat Martin Eugene HANDLON

March 10, 1923 – August 3, 2009 Patrick Handlon, beloved husband of Patricia “Pat” Handlon (nee Berling), passed away in Calgary on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the age of 86. Pat was born in Rainy River, ON on March 10, 1923 the third of four children to Martin and Julia Handlon. In 1942, Pat joined the RCAF 143rd Wing and served overseas in England, France, Belgium, Germany and Denmark. After the war he married Patricia on April 24, 1948 in Decatur, IN. They moved to Fort Wayne, IN, where Pat worked as a welder with the US Rubber Company until the plant closed in 1958. In 1960, “Pat & Pat” moved to Edmonton where his parents and sisters resided. Pat became a realtor in 1961 with Melton’s Real Estate, continuing with Royal Lepage until 1988. During the years in Edmonton he was active with the Knights of Columbus Hockey Program in St. John’s Parish. In his basement shop, Pat was a “woodwright” building many wood projects out of his favourite wood “black walnut”, as well as carving duck decoys. In 1999 Pat and Pat moved to Hinton to be closer to his son. In 2003, they moved to Calgary, to be closer to their daughter. Pat is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter Kathleen (Chris) Sudak; son Marty (Peggy), grandchildren Amanda and Brendan; and niece Marianne (Paul) Sephton. He was predeceased by his parents Martin and Julia; sisters Mary Lambert; Cecilia Terris and Geraldine Bissonnette..
