Obituary of BUCHWALD – Gordon

June 4, 1922 – July 30, 2009 Gordon Buchwald, beloved husband of Grace Buchwald of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Gordon was born on June 4, 1922 in Standard, AB. He served in the RCAF from 1940 – 1945 as a Radar Technician. Gordon was a University of Alberta Pharmacy graduate, after returning from overseas. He joined Eatons as a Pharmacist in Edmonton and served in many management positions in Edmonton, Medicine Hat and Calgary. Gordon was a King Scout, and later a scout leader in the Edmonton area. He was also a keen fisherman, camper, photographer, traveller, and loved to build toys for his grandchildren. Gordon is survived by his loving wife Grace; son David (Guadalupe) Buchwald; daughters, Brenda (Dave) Slack, and Jean Olson; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother Glen Buchwald. He was predeceased by his brother Bredhal; first wife Eileen; and sister Ella. Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church (924 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
