Obituary of Vilas George McAdam

July 2, 1923 – July 28, 2009 McADAM – Vilas George (Mac), husband of Georgina of Calgary, passed away on July 28, 2009 at the age of 86 years. Mac joined the Army in October of 1942, he had served 30 years in the military and 14 years as a civil servant. He retired in Calgary in 1986. He was married to Emily from August of 1945 to November of 1985, he then married Georgina in June of 1993. Mac enjoyed golfing, curling and hunting. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Al-Azhar Shrine Oriental Band, the Garrison Curling Club and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 264. Besides his wife Georgina, Mac is remembered by sons Bill (Pat) of Lacombe and Wayne (Sherry) of Calgary, daughter Mary Ann of Taiwan, five grandchildren, Michael (Natacha), Brian (Nicoiole), Janis (Kent), Marlo and Tyrah, and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mac was predeceased by his first loving wife, Emily and grandson Dana. A Celebration of Mac’s Life will be held at the Shrine Temple, (5225 – 101 Street N.W.) on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow in the Field of Honour at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
