Stanley Kwasny

Obituary of Stanley Wilbur Kwasny

November 5, 1926 – July 23, 2009 Stanley W. Kwasny passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2009, after a long and valiant battle with debilitating illnesses. A loyal son of the Crowsnest Pass, Stan was born in Coleman, Alberta, on November 5, 1926. Stan was raised in Coleman, and had only happy memories of his boyhood in The Pass. He never forgot his love of the mountains or his friends from that time. He graduated from the Coleman High School, and then moved to Calgary, where he worked in sales for many years. He retired as store manager with the Alberta Liquor Control Board, and enjoyed a long satisfying retirement. He had great strength, both physically and morally and was respected by many loving friends. He especially enjoyed the friendships made in later years at Thornview Seniors and Laycock Taiji Group. He will be sorely missed by his loving family; Barbara, wife of fifty-four years, daughter Laura (Ron) Read; sons, Bill (Deb) and Rob (Susan); and his nine very precious grandchildren, Andrew and Stefan Read of Calgary, Kevin, Peter, Steven and Elizabeth Kwasny of Red Deer and Zoë, Jasper and Soren Kwasny of Canmore. He also enjoyed his extended family of in-laws and “out-laws”, nieces, nephews and their families. Stanley was predeceased by his parents Alex and Mary Kwasny and by his siblings, Wanda Maurer and Henry Kwasny. God speed, dear Stan.
